Creative Director

You’re a pragmatic craftsperson. Sometimes the most elegant and thoughtful creative might not be the most effective in the ecommerce landscape, and you’re willing to scrap that approach and iterate quickly. As a creative leader and detail-oriented manager all in one, you know how to get the best out of your teams, and when strategy, requirements and direction isn’t clear, you come to the rescue. As someone who knows when to widen and narrow creative boundaries depending on the timeline, budget and team involved, you’re focused on getting the job done well, and keeping the team motivated.

The Creative Director (Ecommerce/Performance Marketing) will oversee and execute the creative process and serve as the central point for all marketing and creative briefs (ecommerce, performance & brand campaigns). You’ll ensure creative disciplines and needs are considered, requests are aligned to the brand standards, and high-quality work is produced. Above all, you’re willing and know when it’s necessary to step in and execute on creative yourself. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this is a new position at Wild Alaskan that’s fast-paced and integral to the evolution of our storytelling and march towards our mission.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies and develop creative assets/campaigns that achieve set KPIs
  • Leverage an omnichannel approach (brand media, conversion ads, social, content, email, direct mail, blog, etc.) to creatively storytell across multiple mediums and experiences
  • Own the total creative output for Wild Alaskan including production, creating processes, standards and best practices for creative brief templates, a content calendar and creative process map with cross-functional touch points and timing
  • Manage the creative process from concept, execution/production to completion
  • Guide all creative projects and is responsible for the overall quality of work produced internally and with external partners (independent contractors, production companies, agencies, etc.)
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects including photo and video shoots, copy support, digital ad design across platforms and email design
  • Build and sustain effective, collaborative working relationships with our Growth, Member Experience, Digital Product and Supply Chain/Ops teams, as well as with external partners
  • Work in collaboration with the VP of Marketing and Marketing Project Manager to estimate time, effort and costs for new projects to ensure they stay on-time and on-budget
  • Help onboard and guide the work of creative agencies and independent contractors according to budgets, timelines and scope
  • Stay up to date with all new methodologies and continuously strive to improve the creative processes and frameworks developed
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS


Requirements

  • 10+ years experience to include advertising/creative agency, performance marketing agency work;  growing an internal ecommerce or D2C creative team
  • 5+ years experience managing the entire creative ecosystem, including ideation, design, copy, photography and production
  • Portfolio of e-commerce and/or performance marketing focused campaigns
  • Well versed in CAC, PPC, CTR metrics and A/B testing 
  • Agile mindset, and can quickly adapt to and apply feedback based on performance of creative
  • Willingness to jump into Adobe Suite (or similar software) to produce assets when needed
  • Strong digital experience necessary
  • Deep understanding of customer motivations and how to inspire brand communities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills - ability to think strategically, while executing simultaneously - scrappy

Nice to Haves

  • Ecommerce subscription company experience
  • Experience working in digital product management, media buying and/or supply chain
  • Visual design, video production and/or copywriting skills
  • Project management system experience in Asana
