VP of Marketing

Brooklyn, New York / Remote


Are you a strategic brand thinker who loves building, leading and bringing multiple teams together to work towards a common goal? Wild Alaskan is seeking a VP of Marketing to lead brand strategy and project manage initiatives relating to Marketing, Comms, Branding, and Creative. You’ll help shape strategy and lead the efforts to execute, including supporting the growth team with consistent creative content (images, video, copy). In the morning, you might divvy up initiatives to various team members before diving into Google Analytics and spending the afternoon leading a creative session. You should be tactical, strategic and empathetic, energized by the idea of joining a fast-moving, fast-growing startup, and excited about jumping in and rolling up your sleeves.

This is a new position at Wild Alaskan, which will report to the CEO. You’ll have ownership of developing and continuously improving our marketing strategy and execution across all channels (paid + organic) and experiences for our members. The position will initially focus on “doing” with the help of contractors, and shift to team building and management as the company continues to scale.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with the leadership team to develop a comprehensive brand strategy
  • Oversee and execute brand strategy; ensure all paid and organic marketing efforts, as well as comms and branding initiatives, align with Wild Alaskan’s vision, mission, values and strategic goals
  • Facilitate the creation and execution of the marketing, communications and creative development road map, spanning the entire journey for our members from awareness to win back
  • Craft budgets, forecasts and project timelines for all paid and organic marketing initiatives in conjunction with finance and the leadership team
  • Build and continuously improve internal marketing processes from ideation to execution to analysis and iteration
  • Collaborate closely with the growth team to identify opportunities and consistently refresh creative for performance-based marketing campaigns across all paid online and offline channels (Facebook, Google, Radio, etc.)
  • Work closely with digital product to problem solve, ideate and deliver online experiences that drive value at every stage of the member’s journey
  • Team up with the supply chain and operations team to plan campaigns against product launches
  • Collaborate with member experience to ensure our marketing efforts are synchronous with our existing interactions with members
  • Steward creative sessions, involving members across various teams (growth, creative, member experience, operations, etc.), to ideate and clearly define deliverables for campaigns across all channels
  • Manage and hire various out-of-house partners and make sure they are integrated into our team and culture
  • Work closely with other teams to effectively manage creative resources
  • Ensure that all creative (videos, photos, offline collateral, landing pages, etc.) remains on-brand and relevant for the particular channel
  • Never stop thinking about how to inspire creativity and promote a culture of originality

QUALIFICATIONS


Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading marketing/branding teams in the food and/or ecommerce space
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Passion to inspire and willingness to teach others
  • A constant hunger to learn and try new approaches; a love of tinkering and testing ideas
  • Ability to build consensus across teams
  • Incredibly organized with high attention to detail
  • Copywriting experience
  • Successful track record working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Experience designing, building, and leading teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in performance-based marketing
  • Visual design, video production, photography and/or motion graphics experience
  • A background in UI/UX and/or product management
  • Deep understanding of SQL or Looker
  • Past employment in the service and/or food industry
