When the word “unprecedented” gets tossed around like a frisbee, when a blur of unknowns bookends our days, and when the weight of a collective stress presses down on reality while seeming to turn our daily lives inside out, if you ask me, there’s really only one thing to do — strip off the angst and lean into love.
And if you’ve read my letters before, you know how much I truly love this fabulous and enthusiastic community, and the joy of not only getting to share my thoughts with you here, but also the great privilege of being part of a team that consistently provides you with delicious, wild-caught, sustainable seafood from the pristine waters of Alaska.
For those of you who have lovingly expressed interest in my past musings, and for our new members who are just getting to know me and our family, I have decided to archive all my letters in one place, Anchor Points, a new section in our blog named in the spirit of remaining anchored and feeling secure.
But let’s backtrack for a moment...
From the very first day that my husband Arron (our founder & CEO) started this company, one of our fundamental tenets was to keep the kitchens of Americans in every state well stocked with some of the most delicious, nutrient-dense food on the planet; to offer a product that can last in your freezer for extended periods of time; and to consistently make this direct access to quality sustainable seafood simple and straightforward. And I can honestly tell you that in these times of uncertainty, our commitment remains unwavering.
The truth is that as a brand we have always taken our cues from Alaska — and Alaskans have always taken food security very seriously, with survivalism essentially etched into their cultural DNA. But never did we imagine that this mission would become so critical or so poignant for our times.
So, whether you’ve been a member for a while now, or you’re new to our community, remember that Your Wild Alaskan Account is a great resource, be it to send yourself a new box, gift a loved one, reschedule deliveries, see what’s currently available, add to your order or change your billing information.
If you’re interested in recipes, prep or just learning more about each of your cuts, our seafood page and blog are the places to go. And, as always, if you have any questions about anything, our Member Experience team will continue to be here for you. That said, if you’ve reached out recently and are still waiting to hear back from us, I thank you in advance for your patience as we sort through a larger than usual volume of emails.
And finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t express my deepest gratitude to each and every member of our team, all of whom are working around the clock to ensure that our members receive their seafood safely and promptly. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the unyielding effort, heart and grit of the Wild Alaskan staff, of which Arron and I are honored to be a part.
I fully recognize how uneasy these times may be, but as my father-in-law always says, “Good ships weren’t built for safe harbors.” We’re all going to get through this storm, but in the meantime, thank you once again for allowing Wild Alaskan into your homes.
