Accelerate humanity's transition to sustainable food systems by fostering meaningful, interconnected relationships between human beings, wild seafood and the planet.
Company Philosophy
At Wild Alaskan Company, we are committed to playing the long game. We strive to be life-positive — leaving the Earth and its inhabitants in a better state than we found it. We are the ancestors of our generation’s great-great-grandchildren — stewards of the future, trying not to do anything that we would regret ten thousand years from now.
We remain mindful that new does not always equal better; and that in humanity’s never-ending quest for progress, we must first take care to avoid causing irreversible harm. This does not mean that we won't make mistakes, as they are necessary for growth, but we endeavor to keep our errors manageable — learning from each one.
Modern history has shown that what was once considered healthy or benign can later be revealed as harmful. Therefore, we hold ourselves to a higher standard; we embrace the precautionary principle — prioritizing evidence of the absence of harm over the next untested innovation or fad.
Our principles are not static — they evolve as we gain new insights. We acknowledge our limitations, understanding that there is much we do not know, and thus, we remain dedicated to continuous improvement. We invite new perspectives with open minds, ready to adapt, learn, and lead.
In moments of uncertainty, we turn to Mother Nature for guidance, trusting that the most enduring solutions are often those that have nourished and sustained life for millennia. Nature's time-tested methods provide invaluable wisdom that modern intervention cannot easily understand or replicate.
Driven by our profound respect for nature, we are committed to following its lead to inform our sourcing practices. By aligning with the natural rhythms and systems of the planet, we offer food that nourishes both our bodies and the Earth, contributing to a legacy of positive impact for generations to come.
Join us on our mission to accelerate humanity’s transition to sustainable food systems by fostering meaningful, interconnected relationships between human beings, wild seafood, and the planet.
Intentionally Sourced
Intentionally sourced means that all products, from seafood to spices to produce, are obtained in a manner that respects local communities and environments where these goods are harvested or produced. This means prioritizing partners who can provide transparent supply chains, support local economies, and demonstrate sustainable fishing, growing, and logistics practices.
- Supply chain traceable to source.
- Suppliers with verified ethical practices; including, but not limited to, fair wages and safe working conditions.
- Source reduction by seeking more direct relationships and shipping routes.
- Regular auditing of supplier base.
Environmental Stewardship
Environmental stewardship focuses on minimizing the ecological footprint of sourcing, producing, catching, growing, packaging, and distributing food. Wild Alaskan Company commits to practices that minimize human exploitation/manipulation of Mother Nature, conserve natural resources, and promote biodiversity.
- Suppliers with verifiably sustainable catching, farming and harvesting techniques to protect species, water, soil and biodiversity.
- As eco-friendly packaging as possible - biodegradable, made from post-consumer recycled content when available. Food safety is our priority, therefore plastics are required for the film. Constantly evaluate alternatives.
- Engage and support environmental conservation initiatives (directly or through our suppliers).
- Fulfillment and reducing carbon footprint - continuously improve logistics to seek more direct and lower carbon-producing routes.
Real Food
Our ingredient and nutritional standards dictate that Wild Alaskan Company's products are of high nutritional value, contributing to a balanced and healthful diet. We prioritize real food, with minimal manipulation and free of unnecessary additives, to ensure purity and optimal essential nutrients.
- Choosing whole ingredients with high-integrity catching/growing/producing practices, to maximize bioavailability of nutritional content.
- Ensuring that products are free from unnecessary additives, such as artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors.
- Maintain a banned ingredient list.
- Providing clear nutritional information to help consumers make informed choices.
